One method for the treatment of trauma and other effects of abuse on children that is continuously being studied for effectiveness is through play and art theraphy techniques. This study utilized this therapeutic technique where 9 subjects who are victims of physical and sexual abuse were given this therapeutic program through a series of eight individual Psychodnamic play and art therapy sessions. Mixed method was used in two phases; first in the Qualitative method, comprehensive data were gathered through history-taking, in-depth interview using the House-Tree-Person Test (HTP) on participants and collateral interviews. Secondly, in the Quantitative method, The One Group Pre and Post test design was conducted using the Trauma Symptoms Checklist for children(TSCC), Harvard and Hopkins Self-assessment Test and Child Behavior Checklist for ages 6-18 (CBCL). As a statistical tool, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was employed to measure the significant difference at .05 level of significance. Results indicated that in the Trauma Symptoms Checklist for Children (TSCC), the anxiety, depression and angel level of the group lowered from Borderline to Normal level. Accordingly, the scales dissociation and its subscale fantasy and overt dissociation also had decreased score from borderline to normal level. In the test Child behavior Checklist for ages 6-18 (CBCL), the clinical scales withdrawn/depressed and thought problems changed from Borderline to normal level. Furthermore, the male child in the clinical scales of withdrawn/depressed, attention problems, rule-breaking behavior and aggressive behavior had dramatic decreased in score from the clinical range to normal range. Although there were significant differences in these scores, it did not have a strong impact on the trauma and behavior of the children since the program was limited only to 8 sessions since it was time-limited. Initial results revealed no significant differences in the pre and post-test scores of the group.
